Haad Khom, Sandy beach in Koh Phangan, Thailand
Haad Khom is a sandy beach on the northern coast of Koh Phangan where granite boulders and coral formations extend from the shoreline into the sea. The rock formations create sheltered coves and shallow areas throughout the beach.
Local fishermen established the first settlements during the 1800s, building wooden houses and developing their fishing practices along the shore. These early communities shaped how the coastline was used and developed over time.
The beach hosts monthly meditation sessions where Buddhist practitioners gather at sunrise to perform traditional Thai spiritual ceremonies.
You can reach the beach by taxi from Thong Sala pier or by renting a motorbike and driving along the coastal road. The journey takes roughly 30 minutes from the pier.
Natural pools form between the rocks at low tide, each with different water temperatures and creating separate swimming zones. Each pool develops its own small ecosystem depending on its depth and exposure.
