Malibu Beach, Beach at Ko Pha-ngan, Thailand
Malibu Beach is a sandy shore on the western side of Ko Pha-ngan island where fine sand meets clear turquoise water in a gentle curve. The seabed slopes gradually, creating shallow zones near shore that are easy to wade through.
The beach takes its name from the local word 'lang ngan,' which refers to sand bars that form during low tide in this area. The name reflects a natural feature that has shaped activity here for generations.
The beach serves as a gathering place where travelers from around the world meet, particularly during the monthly full moon celebrations held on the sand. The blend of different cultures visible during these events shows how the place brings people together from many backgrounds.
The beach is accessible throughout the year, with the best swimming conditions from November through April when waters reach deeper depths. During other months, the weather can bring rougher conditions, so checking ahead is worth doing.
From March through May, sand bars extend about 200 meters into the ocean, creating natural walking paths that visitors can explore. These temporary formations allow people to reach nearby coral reefs on foot while observing the shallow sea life.
