Hat Khuat

Hat Khuat is a beach on Ko Pha-ngan with white sand that curves along a sheltered bay on the island's northern coast. Dense jungle rises directly from the shoreline, creating a natural barrier that isolates this strip of sand from the rest of the island.

The name was given in the 1980s by visitors who noticed the bottle-like shape of the protective cove. This simple observation about the landscape's shape became the place's lasting identity.

The beach remains largely untouched by commercial development, preserving the simple way that local communities have always related to this stretch of coastline. Visitors experience a place where the connection between people and the sea still feels genuine and everyday rather than packaged for tourism.

The quickest way to reach this beach is by boat from the nearby town of Chaloklum, which takes roughly 20 minutes. A hiking trail through the jungle offers an alternative, though it demands good fitness and becomes challenging in heavy rain.

The shoreline transforms dramatically with the tides, shifting from a narrow strip during high tide to a wide expanse of wet sand when the water recedes. This daily change gives the beach a constantly evolving character that visitors experience differently depending on when they arrive.
