Chomoni Beach, Beach in Chomoni, Comoros
Located on Grande Comore, this white sand beach extends along the eastern coast, bordered by coconut trees and featuring dark volcanic rocks.
The beach area holds traces of early Comorian settlements dating back to the 15th century when Arab traders established maritime routes in the Indian Ocean.
Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing methods at this beach, using wooden dhows and hand-crafted nets passed down through generations.
The beach is accessible via a 45-minute drive from Moroni, with the best swimming conditions occurring during the morning hours from May to October.
Natural pools form in the volcanic rocks during low tide, creating small ecosystems where tropical fish and crustaceans gather.
