Nioumachoua, Beach in Mohéli Island, Comoros
The southern coastline of Mohéli Island features a beach bordered by eight offshore islets with pure white sand extending into turquoise waters.
The beach has maintained its natural state since ancient times when Arab traders first established settlements on Mohéli Island during maritime expeditions.
Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing methods passed down through generations, setting out in wooden boats each morning from the adjacent village.
Visitors can access the beach via flights to Mohéli Island followed by a taxi ride, with accommodations available at the neighboring Laka Lodge.
Marine life thrives in the protected waters surrounding the eight islets, providing natural habitats for sea turtles and numerous fish species.
