Mughsayl

Mughsayl is a sand beach in Dhofar situated between steep mountain peaks that frame the turquoise waters of the Arabian Sea. The wide sandy stretch extends along the shoreline, offering open views across the water to the horizon.

The Dhofar coast has served as an important trade route since ancient times, connecting Omani merchants with traders from East Africa and Asia. This connection established the region as a maritime hub for commerce and exchange.

Local families gather at sunset to share meals on the shore, while children play football on the sand. These everyday scenes show how the place serves as an important gathering spot for the community.

The beach is located about 40 minutes from Salalah and remains open year-round, with the best visiting conditions from November through April. During these months, conditions for a beach visit are most favorable.

Natural blowholes in the nearby limestone cliffs spray seawater up to 10 meters (33 feet) high when strong waves hit the rocks. This phenomenon results from the unique structure of the cliffs and shows the sea's power.
