Ñu Guasú

This 62-acre (25-hectare) facility offers walking paths, bicycle lanes, and multiple sports areas including soccer, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts. Open grass sections alternate with wooded zones, creating different areas for various activities. Benches and shade spots are distributed throughout the grounds. Vegetation includes native tree species that provide habitat for local bird populations. Maintained pathways connect the different sections together.

The Ministry of Communications and Public Works of Paraguay assumed management through its Public Works Direction under the Vice-Ministry. Development of the facility occurred gradually with infrastructure expansions over several years. Initial planning focused on basic amenities, while later phases added supplementary sports facilities and landscaping elements. The municipality of Luque collaborated with national authorities to ensure completion of the project.

The Bosque de la Memoria project began in 2009, representing environmental preservation and public participation. Residents of Luque use the grounds regularly for recreation, family gatherings, and community events. The facility serves as a retreat for the local population and promotes awareness of green spaces in urban settings. Sports teams frequently train on the fields, strengthening neighborhood bonds through shared activities.

Visitors can enter daily between 5:00 AM and 8:30 PM without admission charges, accommodating morning exercise routines. Public transportation from central Asunción reaches Luque in approximately 30 minutes. Parking options exist near the main entrances. Food vendors and small shops are located on surrounding streets. Most pathways accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Weekend visits may be busier with local families.

The location near Silvio Pettirossi International Airport provides travelers with a green retreat between flights. Some visitors watch aircraft takeoffs and landings from the grounds while enjoying natural surroundings. This dual function as both a local recreation area and a waiting space for travelers distinguishes it from typical city parks. Proximity to the airport makes it an unusually accessible location for brief stays.
