Nisos Beach

Nisos Beach is a sand beach along the Mediterranean coast near Malia in Crete, featuring fine golden sand and clear blue water. The shoreline stretches for several kilometers with hills rising behind the waterfront.

The area was settled during the Minoan civilization around 2000 BCE, as shown by archaeological remains discovered near the shore. These ancient settlements are part of the long human history of this coastal region.

The tavernas along the shore serve traditional Cretan food, with fresh fish prepared in simple ways that local families have used for generations. You can watch fishermen selling their daily catch and taste how the island's cooking traditions connect directly to the sea.

The beach has rental stations for water sports equipment, beach chairs, and umbrellas spread along the shore, with lifeguards on duty during summer. Multiple entry points along the length make it easy to find a spot that suits you.

The beach allows you to watch both sunrise and sunset over the Mediterranean from the same location, which is unusual for most beaches. This orientation means you can experience the full day of light changes without moving.
