Porto Timoni, Twin sand beach in Northern Corfu, Greece
Porto Timoni is a sand beach in Northern Corfu, Greece, composed of two adjacent bays separated by a narrow strip of land. Steep cliffs frame both sides of the water, creating a sheltered setting surrounded by rocky terrain.
The beach remained isolated from mass tourism until the late 20th century, serving mainly as a fishing area for local residents. This geographical remoteness helped preserve its calm nature over several decades.
Local fishermen continue their centuries-old tradition of casting nets in the clear waters surrounding Porto Timoni during early morning hours.
Access requires a marked trail from Afionas village that takes about 30 minutes to descend, so sturdy shoes are essential. Bring adequate water and sun protection, as shade is limited along the way and at the beach itself.
The two separate bays are angled in such a way that when wind comes from one direction, one bay stays calm while the other provides shelter. This natural configuration allows visitors to always find a protected swimming area.
