Mount Irvine Bay Beach is a sandy shore in Black Rock with two distinct areas separated by rock formations. One side has calm waters for swimming while the other side offers more wave activity.
The area was once a working fishing community before the Mount Irvine Beach Hotel opened in the late 20th century. This development transformed the location into a destination for leisure and tourism.
Fishermen continue to sell their daily catch to visitors and local establishments along the shore. This working tradition shapes how people experience the beach today.
The beach has restrooms, beach chair rentals, restaurants, and spaces for water sports. Water sports conditions are most favorable between December and March.
A natural rock barrier divides the bay into two distinct water environments. Visitors can choose between calm waters on one side and more active waves on the other.
