Las Cuevas Bay

Las Cuevas Bay is a horseshoe-shaped beach on the north coast of Trinidad and Tobago featuring a wide sandy shore surrounded by dense tropical vegetation and mountainous terrain. The bay stretches over several kilometers and offers different zones where swimmers and surfers can enjoy the water.

Spanish colonizers named the location 'Las Cuevas' after discovering natural caves scattered along the coastline during their early exploration of the island. This name reflects the region's colonial past and the importance of these geological features to early visitors.

Locals gather here on weekends to spend time with family and friends beneath the almond trees that shade the shoreline. The beach serves as a social hub where people prepare food and enjoy each other's company in a relaxed setting.

Lifeguards monitor the water zone daily while facilities like restrooms, showers, and parking are available for visitors. It helps to arrive early, especially on weekends, when the beach attracts both locals and tourists.

The western section transforms seasonally between November and April when ocean swells create conditions that draw surfers to this part of the coastline. This shifting nature makes the beach appeal to different visitors depending on the time of year.
