Marina de Portimão
Marina de Portimao is a boat harbor located at the mouth of the Arade River, protected by two historic forts and equipped with modern facilities for vessels and visitors. It offers 620 mooring spaces, restaurants, shops, and boatyard services for vessels up to 50 meters in length.
This harbor developed over time as an integral part of Portimao's maritime life, built near fortifications that have long protected the coastline. The modern marina represents a contemporary evolution of the river's traditional role as a center for shipping and commerce.
The waterfront serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors alike come to socialize and experience the town's deep connection to the sea. This blend of dining venues, shops, and moored vessels reflects how the community values its maritime heritage while welcoming tourism.
The harbor is open during the day and evening, with parking available nearby and free access to walk around the grounds. The area offers plenty of shaded spots and seating, particularly at restaurants and cafes scattered along the waterfront.
The marina has held the Blue Flag certification since 2000, an award for clean water and strict environmental practices that visitors often overlook. This certificate demonstrates active commitment to maintaining water quality and protecting the surrounding habitat.
