Temple / Colonnaded Triclinium

The Temple / Colonnaded Triclinium features carved sandstone structures with columns and open spaces designed for religious ceremonies and communal gatherings in the desert landscape of Al-Baydha.

Built during the 1st century CE by the Nabataeans, this temple served as a religious center and community meeting place before the decline of their trading empire.

The site reflects Nabataean architectural traditions blended with Hellenistic influences, demonstrating the cosmopolitan nature of this ancient Arab civilization that controlled important trade routes.

The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and can be reached via the address 9CFX+MV2 in Al-Baydha, located approximately 8 kilometers north of Petra.

This temple represents one of the few surviving examples of Nabataean religious architecture outside of Petra, offering insights into the spiritual practices of desert traders.
