National Museum in Prague, National museum at Wenceslas Square, Czech Republic.
The National Museum in Prague is an institution with natural history, mineralogical and archaeological collections spread across several floors and wings. The exhibition halls sit inside a large building at the upper end of Wenceslas Square.
The house began in the 19th century as a meeting point for Bohemian science and culture. The current building was finished at the end of the same century and marks the upper edge of Wenceslas Square.
The name comes from the wish to gather Bohemian science and identity in one place. Today families walk through the halls and look at objects from the past of their region.
The building opens daily in the morning and closes in the early evening. The entrance hall sits at the upper end of Wenceslas Square and offers direction for the different collections inside.
The entrance offers a view of the whole of Wenceslas Square from above, with stairs and columns right outside the door. Inside some rooms show fossils and models of animals from long past eras.
