Casad Dam stretches 416 feet across the Union River, reaching a height of 190 feet with concrete walls measuring 56 feet at the foundation level.
The construction of Casad Dam was completed in 1957 at a cost of 1.4 million dollars to supply water for the growing city of Bremerton.
The dam forms part of the regional water infrastructure system, providing 60 percent of Bremerton's drinking water through gravity-fed distribution channels.
Engineers conduct regular inspections of the dam structure to verify its resilience against floods and seismic events from the nearby Seattle Fault.
The intake tower received structural reinforcements in 2012 to withstand potential impacts from earthquake activity in the Puget Sound region.
