In 1921, the Memorial Field of Flushing Corporation purchased former farmland and established it as a sports ground for high school teams. This conversion transformed agricultural property into public athletic space.
The Flushing War Memorial in the southern section honors residents who died in World War I, with their names inscribed on bronze plaques. This memorial connects the sports facilities to local history and remembrance.
