Out of Africa Wildlife Park is a wildlife park and zoo in Camp Verde, Arizona, opened to the public in 2005 after moving from Fountain Hills, where Dean and Prayeri Harrison founded it in 1988. Its spacious habitats let exotic animals from around the world roam freely, giving visitors a more naturalistic view of wildlife than traditional zoo cages.
Out of Africa Wildlife Park was founded in 1988 by Dean and Prayeri Harrison in Fountain Hills, Arizona, to bring people, animals and nature together in a natural setting. In 2005 it moved to Camp Verde to accommodate its growing animal collection and visitor numbers. In April 2024 an orphaned mountain lion cub arrived from the Adobe Mountain Wildlife Facility, a transfer arranged by the Tohono Oʼodham Nation and the Arizona Game and Fish Department because the cub was too young to survive in the wild.
Visitors experience direct encounters with animals during guided tours that focus on species behaviors and natural instincts. These interactive sessions help people develop a deeper connection with wildlife and understand their needs in the wild.
The park is located within reasonable driving distance from major population centers and operates during daylight hours. Visitors should plan several hours to experience the different areas and animal demonstrations throughout the day.
The Tiger Splash program features predators swimming and playing with handlers, revealing their hunting skills and water abilities. This display showcases behaviors that visitors rarely see in such close and interactive settings.
