Pulse, Gay dance club in Orlando, United States.
Pulse was a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, housed in a rectangular building with white walls and blue trim that contained three separate dance areas and multiple bars. The venue offered themed performances throughout the week for guests from the LGBT community.
Barbara Poma and Ron Legler founded the club in 2004 and developed it into a central gathering point in Orlando. On June 12, 2016, the history of the club ended with an attack that claimed 49 lives.
The club hosted regular Latin nights, educational programs for the LGBT community, and events supporting HIV prevention and breast cancer awareness initiatives.
The venue was located at 1912 South Orange Avenue and opened in the evenings until early morning with different themed programs each day of the week. Visitors found several areas inside for dancing and socializing.
The name Pulse honors Barbara Poma's brother John, who died from AIDS, and symbolizes the ongoing heartbeat and life force of his memory. This personal dedication gave the club a special emotional meaning for the community.
