Gurney Drive, Seafront promenade and hawker center in George Town, Malaysia

The esplanade extends along the northern coast of George Town, featuring a paved walkway bordered by food stalls and modern shopping centers.

Originally named New Coast Road in 1934, the promenade received its current name in 1952 to honor British High Commissioner Sir Henry Gurney.

The hawker center presents Malaysian culinary traditions through local specialties like char kway teow, lok-lok skewers, and pasembur with peanut sauce.

Visitors can reach the promenade by taking bus 103 from Komtar Centre, with services running until 11 PM and numerous food stalls operating until late evening.

The shoreline undergoes transformation through the Gurney Bay project, which introduces mangrove habitats attracting egrets and marine life.
