Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary

Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary is a large protected rainforest area in Sarawak with multiple vegetation types and diverse wildlife. The forest spans vast terrain and contains various habitats that support different animal populations.

The area was established as a protected zone in 1983 by Sarawak's Forest Department to safeguard natural resources and wildlife populations. This designation marked an important effort to preserve endangered forest areas and the species within them.

The area and adjacent Batang Ai National Park together support a population of around 1,400 orangutans in their natural mountain forest home. This high concentration of these apes makes the region one of the most important places for their survival in the wild.
