Hatun Usnu

Hatun Usnu is an archaeological site with multiple stone terraces built with precise engineering at 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) elevation. The platforms are carefully stacked and arranged to demonstrate advanced Inca construction knowledge.

This site was built during the Inca era as a ceremonial and administrative center. During the Spanish conquest, local people removed sacred objects to protect them from invading forces.

The name comes from Quechua language and means Large Platform, a place where Inca communities held religious ceremonies and conducted administrative gatherings. The structure shows how central this location was to spiritual and political life.
