Teqe of Frashër, Bektashi tekke in Përmet, Albania.
The Teqe of Frashër is a Bektashi religious site in Përmet that combines traditional architectural features with a main prayer hall and surrounding gardens. The complex sits at the foot of mountains and displays the typical spatial arrangement of such spiritual centers.
The site was founded in 1825 by Nasibi Tahir Babai following his return from the Middle East. It became an important center for Albanian nationalist movements.
The site served as a gathering place where followers of Bektashi beliefs met to exchange ideas and learn together. Visitors can still observe how the spaces were organized for communal study and spiritual meetings.
Access is via marked paths from Përmet, and the site is open to visitors during regular hours. Information and guided tours can be arranged through local cultural organizations.
During Ottoman times, the site was a center for distributing Albanian language books when such materials were forbidden. Its leaders also sheltered political refugees by disguising them as dervish students.
