The Archeological Museum of Butrint occupies a reconstructed Venetian Castle dating to the 13th century and holds over 1300 artifacts recovered from the surrounding region. The institution was established in 1938 based on excavations conducted between 1928 and 1940 in the Butrint area. Following comprehensive renovations in 2005, the museum was modernized and its collection was reorganized and newly presented to visitors.
