The Great Bridge of Hrazdan (Kievian Bridge) is a single-arch reinforced-concrete bridge over the Hrazdan River, linking Kirk Kerkoryan Street in Arabkir with Kievian Street in Ajapnyak. It spans a deep gorge, with a length of 335 m (375 m per Armenian sources) and a height of 60.5 m. Its engineers were V. Pinajyan, N. Slovinsky and A. Hovnanyan; the architect was Grigor Aghababyan.
The bridge was completed in 1956 and represented a major engineering achievement for Armenian infrastructure at that time. It was built during a period when the country was modernizing and expanding its road networks.
The bridge is commonly called Kievian Bridge after Kievian Street, which it links to Kirk Kerkorian Street; its Armenian name is Mets Hrazdanyan Kamurj. It carries the road between the Arabkir and Ajapnyak districts, joining the city centre with the northern districts and the Ashtarak highway. Its single reinforced-concrete arch spans the deep Hrazdan gorge.
The bridge is accessible daily and experiences heavy use from vehicles and pedestrians, especially during peak hours. Access is available from both sides, and it is wise to watch traffic conditions if crossing on foot.
The bridge is a single-arch reinforced-concrete span with a through-deck structure, and its approaches are reinforced-concrete girder spans. Its 60.5 m height over the Hrazdan gorge made it a notable engineering work of its era. Construction began in 1949; in 1952 an unfinished arch collapsed, killing 47 workers, and the bridge opened only on 12 May 1956.
