Perito Moreno National Park

The park spans 1,268 square kilometers of Patagonian wilderness with two mountain ranges forming natural amphitheaters and numerous lakes across the landscape.

The protected area, established in 1937, bears the name of Francisco Moreno, an Argentine explorer who conducted scientific research throughout Patagonia.

Local indigenous traditions remain present through petroglyphs and archaeological findings that document centuries of human presence in this remote region.

Visitors need to arrange transportation from nearby towns and bring camping equipment, as the park contains no established accommodation or facilities.

The park hosts 24 mammal species, including guanacos and pumas, along with 115 bird species such as Andean condors and hooded grebes.
