Puyehue is a commune in Osorno Province that lies between Rupanco Lake to the south and Puyehue Lake to the north. The administrative center of Entre Lagos sits within this lake-filled landscape that extends toward the Andes at the Argentine border.
The settlement was founded in 1971 as Villa de Entre Lagos and received its current name Puyehue in 1988 through legislation. This renaming marked a formal recognition of regional identity.
