Puyehue National Park

Puyehue National Park is a nature reserve in the Andes with volcanic ground, hot springs, and dense evergreen forests crossed by several rivers. The terrain divides into three main sections, each offering different landscapes and access points.

The park was created in 1941 as part of a cross-border biosphere reserve for temperate rainforests between Chile and Argentina. This designation helped protect one of South America's key forest ecosystems.

The area shows a blend of Mapuche traditions and German settler culture reflected in local food and crafts made by residents. These cultural influences shape how people live and build community here today.
