Iglesia del Corazón de María is a Gothic Revival church in the El Almendral neighborhood of Valparaíso, featuring a main nave with a smaller side nave and a tower topped with bells and a clock. The building combines traditional architectural style with modern materials, using steel framing and laminated wood ceilings throughout its interior.

The church was founded in 1895 by the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and suffered extensive damage during the 1906 earthquake. Reconstruction took several years, and the building reopened in 1913 with reinforced structure and materials.

The Claretian congregation arrived in Valparaíso in 1880 and worked at the Hospital San Juan de Dios and the Asilo del Buen Pastor. In gratitude, the Archdiocese of Santiago gave them the San José retreat house on land donated by Juana Ross de Edwards, where the church was later built. In 1992 the congregation handed its administration to the Diocese of Valparaíso.

The church sits at the corner of Uruguay and Pocuro streets at the base of La Cruz hill, making it straightforward to locate. It is now administered by Valparaiso Diocese, and while the exterior is easily viewed, access to the interior follows the regular schedule for visitors.

The 1913 church replaced an earlier one finished in 1901 and wrecked by the 1906 earthquake; Luis Echavarri led the rebuilding under the Junta de Reconstrucción. Its structure is mass concrete with a steel lattice frame, and the ceiling is laminated wood. The tower carries both a bell chamber and a clock.
