Iglesia Los Doce Apóstoles

The Iglesia Los Doce Apóstoles is a Catholic church in El Almendral with a distinctive exterior, located at the corner of Avenida Argentina and Juana Ross, next to the National Congress building. The structure features tall walls, large windows, and a prominent cupola that rises above the surrounding streets.

Construction began in 1869 under the direction of Teodoro Burchard, who followed designs by Juan Eduardo Fehrman. The building later served as a field hospital during the War of the Pacific, making it a practical space for emergency care during conflict.

The church displays European building styles from the late 1800s, showing how the port city attracted foreign architects and design ideas during its period of rapid growth. Today it remains a gathering place where locals pause during their daily routines through this neighborhood.
