Parque Cultural de Valparaíso

Parque Cultural de Valparaíso is a cultural complex located on Cerro Cárcel that houses a theater, visual arts space, and viewing terrace overlooking the bay. The facility combines these different areas within landscaped grounds designed to encourage visitors to move through and experience each section.

The grounds formerly served as a prison before being transformed into a cultural center that preserves two national monuments. This conversion reflects how the city has reimagined its past structures for contemporary uses.

The Galería de Reos displays contemporary artworks directly within the former prison cells themselves. This placement creates a direct conversation between the site's harsh past and present-day creative expression.
