The Edificio Consistorial features a five-story French Renaissance design with ornate plasterwork, a mansard roof, and a central clock on its facade.
Following the 1906 earthquake that destroyed the previous structure, architect Ernesto Urquieta designed this government building, which opened in 1910 for Chile's centennial.
The building's central hall replicates the design of Casa Pansa from Pompeii, incorporating classical elements into its architectural composition.
Located at Plaza Sotomayor, the structure houses administrative offices of the Chilean Navy and maintains its original late 19th-century furniture.
The facade underwent restoration in 2013, returning to its original blue color scheme after decades of displaying a grey exterior.
