The theater opened in 1938 under municipal ownership and operated until 1953, when Primitivo Santander purchased it after being its administrator.
The venue hosted cinema screenings, comedy shows, artistic tours, and graduation ceremonies before transforming into a nightclub called Viejo Teatro Pub.
The theater stands at the intersection of Victoria and Arturo Prat streets, with its main entrance facing the corner position.
Local residents are collecting signatures to return the currently abandoned building to municipal ownership for its complete rehabilitation.
