Nido 20, National monument in La Cisterna, Chile.

Nido 20 is a two-story residential building with a white facade and metal gates located at Santa Teresa Avenue number 37 in La Cisterna. The property now operates as a memorial site where the public can learn about what happened at this location during the military period.

The Air Force Intelligence Directorate operated this site from 1974 to 1978 as a detention facility during the military regime when serious human rights abuses took place. This period represents a critical chapter in Chile's modern history.

The memorial displays photographs, testimonies, and personal belongings of 75 detainees that document their experiences during the dictatorship years. Visitors can learn about the individual stories and lives affected by the events that took place here.

The site is managed by a human rights committee that organizes public access to preserve the memory of what occurred here. It is advisable to check ahead for opening hours and to ask about guided tours that can provide deeper context about the memorial.

Survivors were able to identify the location primarily through sensory memories, as they were kept blindfolded throughout their detention in this building. This reveals how trauma becomes embedded in bodily experience and spatial memory.
