Mirador Interactive Museum, Interactive science museum in La Granja, Chile.
The Mirador Interactive Museum is a science museum in La Granja, Chile, with more than 350 hands-on modules spread across 7,000 square meters (about 75,000 square feet). The brutalist-style building houses several themed areas including astronomy, forest, and natural science exhibits.
The museum opened in March 2000 during Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle's presidency as an initiative of the Tiempos Nuevos Foundation. The concept aimed to promote science education in Chile through hands-on methods.
The name Mirador refers to the viewpoint visitors take while exploring hands-on experiments throughout the halls. Workshops and demonstrations run regularly, inviting families to investigate physical phenomena together.
The museum sits inside a 16-hectare (about 40-acre) park and opens Tuesday through Sunday, with longer hours on weekends. School groups can book guided tours, and most modules are accessible to both children and adults.
The complex includes a separate astronomy museum and the Adriana Hoffmann Forest, named after a well-known Chilean botanist. Both areas extend the experience beyond traditional exhibition halls.
