Centro Cultural Espacio Matta, Cultural center in La Granja, Chile.

Centro Cultural Espacio Matta occupies 2,837 square metres beside the La Granja town hall on Avenida Santa Rosa 9014. The Atelier studio designed the building, opened in 2010, so that its music, dance, sculpture and painting rooms and a 400-seat theatre look toward the 24-metre mural El primer gol del pueblo chileno, painted by Roberto Matta with the Brigada Ramona Parra.

The center emerged from a 1971 mural titled 'El primer gol del pueblo chileno' by Roberto Matta that remained hidden during the military regime. The artwork was rediscovered in 2005 and fully restored in 2007, becoming the heart of the complex as it exists today.

The center serves as a gathering place where locals regularly attend performances, screenings, and exhibitions. It also hosts workshops and classes that invite residents to learn and create together.

The center stands at Avenida Santa Rosa 9014, beside the Municipalidad de La Granja, at the Paradero 25 crossing with Américo Vespucio. The Santa Rosa station on Metro Line 4A is a few meters to the south-east, and Red Metropolitana de Movilidad buses stop nearby. The building covers 2,837 square meters, with the theater seating 400.

Roberto Matta's mural was so completely hidden during the military dictatorship that many people did not know it existed at all. Its restoration became a local story of rediscovery and cultural resistance.
