Centro Cultural Espacio Matta

Centro Cultural Espacio Matta is a cultural center in La Granja with multiple artistic spaces, including a 400-seat theater, music rooms, dance studios, and areas for sculpture and painting. The facility contains different spaces for various artistic activities that attract both audiences and creators.

The center emerged from a 1971 mural titled 'El primer gol del pueblo chileno' by Roberto Matta that remained hidden during the military regime. The artwork was rediscovered in 2005 and fully restored in 2007, becoming the heart of the complex as it exists today.

The center serves as a gathering place where locals regularly attend performances, screenings, and exhibitions. It also hosts workshops and classes that invite residents to learn and create together.

The center is located on Avenida Santa Rosa and is easily accessible, with free parking available for visitors. It helps to check in advance what events are currently happening, as the program changes seasonally.

Roberto Matta's mural was so completely hidden during the military dictatorship that many people did not know it existed at all. Its restoration became a local story of rediscovery and cultural resistance.
