Aduana El Manzano, Historical customs checkpoint in San José de Maipo, Chile.
The structure features an L-shaped design with wooden interconnected rooms and central accommodations for border control operations at the Andes crossing point.
From 1870 to 1973, this former manor house of Fundo El Manzano estate served as a customs control point known as Aduana Portillo del Maipo.
The building represents the evolution of border control practices in Chile, connecting the routes to Piuquenes and Cruz de Piedra mountain passes.
The monument stands along Route G25 towards El Volcán, maintaining its original architecture despite the 1958 Las Melosas earthquake damage.
The complex includes additional structures beyond the customs house, featuring a chapel and a railway station within the same architectural ensemble.
