Centro Cultural Matucana 100, Arts centre in Estación Central, Chile.
Centro Cultural Matucana 100 uses a repurposed industrial building that contains galleries, performance spaces, and workshop areas in western Santiago. The structure houses visual art displays, theater and dance venues, and a cinema hall.
The building dates from 1911 and originally operated as a railcar repair facility before serving as a storage space for a water system. Its conversion into a cultural venue happened in recent decades.
The space hosts exhibitions, performances, and screenings that feature work by Chilean and international artists in different mediums. Visitors experience contemporary creative work and local artistic expression throughout the year.
The venue is open Wednesday through Sunday with varying hours depending on the day of the week. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours to see exhibitions or attend an event, and check current opening times before visiting.
The building suffered structural damage during the 2010 earthquake, which led to a full restoration of the gallery spaces. The rebuilding drew on national Bicentennial funding and revitalized the venue.
