The Museo de la Educación Gabriela Mistral is located in the west wing of a former Normal School building at the corner of Chacabuco and Compañía de Jesús in Santiago. The institution was founded in 1941 as the Pedagogical Museum of Chile and documented the history of Chilean education from its early years. It moved to its current location in 1981 and received its present name in 2006 in honor of the influential Chilean educator Gabriela Mistral.
