Museo de la Educación Gabriela Mistral

The Museo de la Educación Gabriela Mistral is located in the west wing of a former Normal School building at the corner of Chacabuco and Compañía de Jesús in Santiago. The institution holds extensive collections of schoolbooks, teaching materials, old furniture, and historical photographs that document the transformation of Chile's education system.

The institution was founded in 1941 as the Pedagogical Museum of Chile and documented the history of Chilean education from its early years. It moved to its current location in 1981 and received its present name in 2006 in honor of the influential Chilean educator Gabriela Mistral.

The museum shows how school education in Chile looked and changed over many decades. Visitors see old school desks, teaching materials, and photographs that document classroom life from earlier times.
