Invernadero de la Quinta Normal, Glass and iron greenhouse in Quinta Normal Park, Santiago, Chile.
The structure features a central dome with two symmetrical wings, constructed from prefabricated iron and glass panels on a stone base.
Built in 1866 for Henry Meiggs' estate, the greenhouse was purchased by the Chilean government in 1890 and moved to Quinta Normal Park.
The greenhouse served as an observatory for exotic plants until 1922, contributing to botanical research and education in Santiago.
Located near the intersection of Portales and Matucana avenues, the greenhouse stands in the southeastern section of Quinta Normal Park.
The structure maintained a collection of 2,200 plant species, including jasmine, palm trees, and orchids during its early operational years.
