Museo Infantil

The Museo Infantil occupies the Obrecht House in Quinta Normal Park and features interactive exhibits and learning spaces designed for children ages 2 to 13. The rooms let young visitors try things out and discover what interests them through hands-on activities.

The Obrecht House was completed in 1875 and originally served as the home of French astronomer Jean Albert Obrecht Hubert, who worked at the National Astronomical Observatory. The building was later converted into a children's museum to bring learning and exploration within reach of young visitors.

The museum displays vintage toys from different eras, including dolls, cars, trains, and lead soldiers that show how children played in Chile across generations. These objects tell the story of childhood over time and how toys changed with each decade.

The best way to reach this location is by the nearby Quinta Normal metro station, which connects the park directly to downtown. Visitors should confirm opening before arriving, as hours may vary seasonally or due to maintenance.

In 1993 the museum added interactive rooms where children can perform their own scientific experiments and watch demonstrations unfold before them. These hands-on activities have become a central part of what visitors experience today.
