The church building stands on Huerfanos Street in central Santiago, featuring architectural elements characteristic of early 20th-century religious structures in Chile.
The church foundation dates back to March 9, 1877, when Mother Maria Manuela Vial Guzman arrived from the Montevideo monastery to establish the religious order.
The church celebrates the Solemnity of Christ the King each November, including the consecration of Chile to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Located at Huerfanos 2323 in Santiago Centro, the church underwent complete restoration in 2012 following structural damage from the 2010 earthquake.
In February 2006, the church temporarily housed the reliquary of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque for a two-week period.
