Plaza Quilicura metro station, Metro terminal station in Quilicura, Chile
Plaza Quilicura station is the northern terminal of Santiago Metro Line 3, located in the Quilicura district of Chile. It has two side platforms and is equipped with standard metro amenities for passenger flow.
Line 3 was extended to this point in September 2023, connecting a district that had no rapid transit before. The extension was part of a broader effort to expand Santiago's metro network northward.
The station takes its name from a nearby square in the center of Quilicura, which residents use as a reference point in daily life. This connection between a transit stop and a local landmark is something passengers notice as soon as they step outside.
As a terminal station, orientation is straightforward since all trains depart in the same direction. Signage inside is clear, and the entrances are easy to find from street level.
During the construction works, workers uncovered archaeological artifacts that were handed over to the National Museum of Natural History. The find suggests that people lived in this area long before the modern city grew around it.
