Built in 1845 by architect Samuel Averell for businessman Alejandro Aracena Salamanca during the silver mining prosperity period in Arqueros.
The neoclassical architecture of Casa Piñera represents the transition in La Serena's urban development from colonial to European-influenced building styles.
The house stands at Calle Prat 446 in the historic center, one block from Plaza de Armas and opposite the Municipal Building.
The property contains a distinctive river stone patio with geometric patterns formed by carefully arranged pebbles in a traditional huevillo style.
