Iglesia de Santo Domingo, La Serena

Iglesia de Santo Domingo is a limestone church in La Serena that follows a single straight layout stretching deep into the interior. The building is topped by a tall bell tower built in the nineteenth century.

The church was built between 1673 and 1675 and provided shelter when English pirate Edward Davis attacked the city in 1686. The structure stood as a refuge for the community during this violent period.
