Fuente China, Bronze and marble fountain in Park of the Exposition, Peru.
Fuente China is a bronze and marble fountain located in the Exposition Park featuring three distinct human figures that represent unity and connection. The structure combines central marble sculptures with bronze elements on each side, blending different artistic styles in a single composition.
The Chinese community donated this fountain in 1921 as a gift to Peru marking the country's centennial of independence. The formal inauguration took place in 1924, establishing it as a permanent landmark in Lima's urban landscape.
The name reflects the Chinese community that created this place and rooted their story in Lima. Today, visitors can see bronze sculptures representing the Amazon and Yellow rivers positioned on each side, symbolizing connections between distant cultures.
The easiest way to reach the fountain is by taking the Metropolitano train to the central station and walking through the park entrance near the MALI museum. The location sits centrally within the Exposition Park where visitors can freely explore the grounds on foot.
Italian sculptor Valmore Gemignani created the central marble figures while fellow Italian artist Ettore Graziosi designed the bronze river representations. This collaboration between two Italian artists produced a rare artistic blend that bridges Eastern and Western traditions within Lima's landscape.
