Teatro Manuel Ascencio Segura, Historical theatre in central Lima, Peru
The Teatro Manuel Ascencio Segura features a neoclassical design with 803 seats, situated on Jiron Huancavelica street in downtown Lima.
Originally constructed as an open-air theatre in 1615, the structure underwent multiple reconstructions following an earthquake in 1746 and received its current form in 1909.
The theatre presents a variety of theatrical performances throughout the year, maintaining its position as a central cultural institution in Lima.
Visitors can purchase tickets for performances through Teleticket or Tu Entrada platforms, with the theatre located near La Merced Church.
The building houses a museum dedicated to theatre history and stands as the oldest theatrical venue in Latin America.
