Santa Rosa de Quives

Santa Rosa de Quives is an administrative district in Canta Province located in the mountain region of Lima, Peru. The area spreads across several populated settlements and sits at around 940 meters elevation within the Andean foothills.

The district was officially established on January 16, 1952, and named after the first canonized saint of the Americas. Its creation brought together several existing settlements in this mountain region under one administration.

The area maintains agricultural traditions passed down through generations that shape daily life here. People naturally blend mountain customs with modern influences from the nearby Lima region.

The district is reachable by regular bus services from Lima, with the journey showing the landscape transformation from coast to mountains. The best time to visit is during drier months when mountain roads are more accessible.

Within the district sits a historical well where visitors leave written messages addressed to Santa Rosa de Lima. This practice creates a personal connection between those who visit and the saint honored throughout this region.
