Museum Remigio Crespo Toral, Art museum in historic center of Cuenca, Ecuador.
The museum occupies a brick building with two distinct facades, one facing Calle Larga and another overlooking gardens beside the Tomebamba River.
The structure, built between 1910 and 1917, served as the residence of Ecuadorian poet Remigio Crespo Toral until 1967 when it transformed into a municipal museum.
The museum collection contains 28,000 pieces, including portraits from the 19th and 20th centuries, ancestral artifacts, and documents about Cuenca's development.
The museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with free admission for all visitors.
The building incorporates traditional construction methods using adobe and bahareque, featuring European pressed metal ceilings and imported wallpaper from the 1910s.
