Avellaneda Partido, Administrative division in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina
Located in the southern region of Greater Buenos Aires, Avellaneda Partido covers 55 square kilometers along the Matanza River and Río de la Plata.
Founded as Barracas al Sud in 1852, the partido received its current name in 1904 to commemorate Nicolás Avellaneda, the third elected president of Argentina.
The partido includes the cities of Avellaneda, Crucecita, Dock Sud, Gerli, Piñeiro, Sarandí, Villa Domínico, and Wilde, forming a diverse urban community.
The territory connects to Buenos Aires City through three main bridges: Pueyrredón Bridge, New Pueyrredón Bridge, and Nicolás Avellaneda Bridge across the Matanza River.
The Environmental Belt Reserve Area within the partido functions as an ecological rehabilitation zone, transforming former waste disposal sites through vegetation restoration.
