Reserva ecológica Ciudad Universitaria, Nature reserve at Ciudad Universitaria campus, Buenos Aires, Argentina
The 21-hectare reserve contains three distinct environments: pampas grassland, humid forest, and urban wetland connected to the Rio de la Plata estuary.
The area emerged after land reclamation in the 1960s for university campus expansion, with natural vegetation gradually colonizing the abandoned terrain.
The reserve functions as an educational center where University of Buenos Aires students conduct research projects and environmental studies throughout the year.
Visitors can access the reserve through multiple bus lines including 28, 33, 37, 42, 45, 107, 160, or via Belgrano Norte train line to Ciudad Universitaria station.
The reserve hosts over 1000 species, including 70 percent of Buenos Aires bird species and 25 percent of Argentina's total bird population.
